Fire Protection

Be alerted immediately

Our business serves all areas of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We have years of experience at making homes and businesses fire safe. Fire is one of the most dangerous threats to any property. When left to burn, it will destroy structural strength, block off exits, and trap people inside a building. Make sure that you are alerted immediately if a fire breaks out, with our fire and smoke alarms. At JC Security, we supply, install, and maintain fire alarms for domestic and commercial properties. Once the job is complete, we will provide you with all the regulated paperwork and a manual detailing how to use the system.

Swiftly detecting smoke

Smoke is a silent killer, with the potential to have devastating effects if going undetected. Rely on JC Security to supply, install, and maintain smoke detector systems. Covering domestic and commercial premises, we will visit your location and carry out a survey. Each room will be checked, as well as any external buildings, before the final number of required smoke detectors is determined. Alongside smoke detectors, we also supply CO2 detectors, air sampling units, and manual call points, which allow you to alert other people in the property when there is a fire.

The best fire alarms

The best way to prevent a fire from being deadly is having a functioning fire alarm. JC Security supplies, installs, and maintains a variety of top-quality fire alarm systems that are suitable for homes and commercial premises. During a survey of your property, we will check all the rooms and any external buildings to determine how many fire alarms you need.

Fire Extinguishers

For business premises, it is a legal requirement that fire extinguishers are available, while homeowners will also find peace of mind in having an extinguisher to hand. They can help control small outbreaks of fire quickly, preventing flames from spreading and causing more damage. In more severe emergencies, fire extinguishers can save lives, helping keep an evacuation route clear and providing crucial access to escape points. Fire extinguishers need to be serviced every twelve months or after each use. If an extinguisher is found to be leaking, it should be serviced immediately. They must be replaced at the end of their lives which is ten years for CO2 extinguishers and 15 years for all others. Jc security and fire can make sure that your business or home is fire safe and complying with Uk legislation for commercial premises.

Fire Safety

Simple steps to save lives

Want you do matters

Put the Right Person in Charge

Fire safety in business or other non-domestic premises typically comes down to the employer, the owner, the landlord, an occupier, or anyone else with control of the premises. As a responsible person, it’s important to be aware of what your responsibilities are, ensuring that any risks to the health and safety of you, your employees, and anyone visiting the premises are minimised as much as possible. It is your responsibility to conduct the following practices:

  •  Carry out a fire risk assessment of the premises and review it regularly
  • Tell staff or their representatives about the risks you’ve identified.
  • Put in place, and maintain, appropriate fire safety measures
  • Plan for an emergency
  •   Provide staff information, fire safety instruction and training

Fire safety tips for your household

In the kitchen

  • Take extra care if you need to leave the kitchen whilst cooking, take pans off the heat or turn them down to avoid risk.
  • Avoid cooking when under the influence of alcohol.
  • Avoid leaving children in the kitchen alone when cooking on the hob. Keep matches and sauce pan handles out of their reach to keep them safe.
  • Make sure saucepan handles don’t stick out – so they don’t get knocked off the stove.
  • Take care if you’re wearing loose clothing – they can easily catch fire.
  •  Keep tea towels and cloths away from the cooker and hob.

  • Fit at least one smoke alarm on every level of your home or business.
  • Choose a smoke detector that is approved by either the The Loss Prevention Certification Board or the British standard kitemark to ensure it is safe.
  • Make testing your smoke alarms part of your regular household routine. Test them by pressing the button until the alarm sounds. If it doesn’t sound, you need to replace the battery. If a smoke alarm starts to beep on a regular basis, you need to replace the battery immediately.
  • Never disconnect or take the batteries out of your alarm if it goes off by mistake.
  • Strobe light and vibrating pad alarms are available for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • The ideal position is on the ceiling, in the middle of a room, and on the hallway and landing, so you can hear an alarm throughout your home.
  • Other equipment you could consider to improve your fire safety at home include:

Fire blankets whick are used to put out a fire or wrap a person whose clothes are on fire.

They are best kept in the kitchen.

Fire extinguishers shoot out a jet to help control a fire. They are quick and simple to use, but always read the instructions first.

Heat alarms which can also detect fires in

kitchens where smoke alarms should not be placed.
